William 'Buddy' Warren

After a valiant 12-year battle with cancer, William “Buddy” Warren, 70, walked through Heaven’s gates on September 6, 2026.  Buddy was born on May 8, 1956, in Abilene, TX to Gus Warren and Mary Frances (Warren) Madison. Buddy graduated from Abilene High in 1975 and immediately entered the Abilene Fire Academy. Buddy’s greatest joy was being an Abilene Firefighter for 36 years, where he became a paramedic and was so truly proud of serving the citizens of Abilene. 
During his years as a firefighter, Buddy also became a successful businessman and ventured into several areas such as windshield repair, archery supplies and anything else that caught his interest. He was definitely a jack of all trades. In his later years, he specifically worked for the Sports Connection in Abilene building custom pool cues and traveling to trade shows.
Buddy had many hobbies that entertained him, such as building hot rods, fishing, welding, camping and playing pool. He loved playing pool and making wagers; many pool players went home a little lighter in the pocketbook when they went up against him. 
But after retirement, Buddy’s passion became the Walk to Emmaus in the Big Country. He served for many years as a counselor and guide and served the Lord through this ministry until his health required him to step down. He continued to support the ministry as much as possible, even if only through prayer. Buddy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baird.  
Buddy married Marvette Ashorn on January 2, 2007, and lived happily for 19 years. They made their home in Baird, TX. They enjoyed many years of camping and traveling with the Baird Bunch and hanging out with their kids and grandkids. 
Left to cherish Buddy’s memory are his wife, Marvette of Baird, his son Buddy Wade Warren of Sweetwater, TX, bonus son Josh Collins of Graham, TX, bonus daughter Erin Cooper (Lee) of Clyde, TX, brother Scott Warren (Tina) of Hamby, TX, sister Tina Flowers (Sheldon) of Orlando, FL, his mother Mary Frances Madison of Abilene, TX, five granddaughters, one grandson and a great grandson. 
He was pre-deceased by his father, Gus Warren.
Services were held Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Baird. Burial was at Clyde Cemetery.
