Jackie Wayne Fleming

April 23, 2026

Jackie Wayne Fleming, 70, passed peacefully in his sleep early in the morning of March 15, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1955, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Joyce and Alton Fleming.
Jack was raised in Clyde, Texas, where he attended Clyde High School and was actively involved in sports. From a young age, he dedicated his career to serving others, working in administration at a state facility for disabled adults. His steady commitment and compassionate nature marked a lifelong career until his retirement in 2013.
On July 31, 1982, Jack married Margaret Edmondson. Together, they shared 43 years of marriage, building a life centered around love, family, and faith. They raised their two children, Sarah Katherine Fleming (Fortenberry) and Clinton Wayne Fleming, in Amarillo, Texas.
After purchasing a home on Lake Tawakoni, Jack and Margaret eventually made the lake their permanent residence. He spent the remainder of his life near Quinlan, Texas, where he enjoyed his retirement years fishing, traveling, and spending time on the water with friends and family. Jack found joy in working on his home, traveling with loved ones, and attending horse races.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Fleming; his son, Clint Fleming and wife Lauren, and their daughters Harper (5) and Everleigh (3); his daughter, Sarah Fortenberry and husband Ethan, and their daughter Charlotte (4); his sister, Lisa Carmony; his mother, Joyce Fleming; and nieces: Amanda Fenimore and Karalyn West.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Fleming, and his older brother, Danny Fleming.
A celebration of Jack’s life was held at 10:30 a.m. on April 11, 2026, at Russell Memorial Methodist Church, 201 South Fourth Street, Wills Point, Texas. The service was officiated by Pastor David Cartwright, with guest speaker Jim Shelburne, Jack’s pastor and friend from Amarillo.
